The guides people use most
Unblock a toilet
A plunger, a bit of patience and ten minutes usually does it.
Bleed a radiator
Cold at the top, warm at the bottom? Let the trapped air out.
Unblock a sink
Clear the plughole, then clean the trap. Hair and fat are the usual culprits.
Fix a dripping tap
Nine times in ten it is a worn washer or cartridge, a cheap fix.
Change a light bulb
Match the cap, the shape and the brightness, and switch it off first.
Change a smoke alarm battery
Test it, swap the battery, test it again. Two minutes that could save a life.
Hang a picture or mirror
Check the wall first, pick a fixing that suits the weight, and use a spirit level.
Put up a shelf
Find the studs or use the right wall fixings, and get it level before you drill.
Quick answers
What counts as a simple job?
Small, quick jobs around the home that do not need a specialist: changing a bulb or a smoke alarm battery, hanging a mirror, putting up a shelf, unblocking a sink or bleeding a radiator. Each one has a free how-to guide on this site.
Do I have to pay to read the guides?
No. Every how-to guide is free. If you would rather have someone do the job, message us on WhatsApp.
Where do you cover?
Sandwich, Deal, Canterbury, Thanet and the villages of East Kent. The how-to guides are written for any UK home.
Which jobs do you not do?
Anything involving gas appliances or gas pipework, new or mains electrical work, asbestos, structural work, or anything that needs scaffold or work at height. For those you need a Gas Safe registered engineer, a registered electrician or the relevant specialist.
